Bazza

We heard last night that schools were going to be closed today so I made the most of some TOIL that I've built up and took the day off. Mid week days off always feel super indulgent but I was glad not to be in the office today! Instead I took the kayak out on the river with a friend who happens to have Mondays off and it was utter bliss. It must have been warm because I even managed a swim in the Severn. Unheard of.

In the evening I watched my friend, Barry, carry the Queen's Baton up to the Castle. So much fun. His part of the relay had been expanded a little as a few people had dropped out due to the heat. Looking at what Bazza had to wear and how sweaty he was at the end of his little run, I'm not surprised people dropped out! The Baton relay was the most Shrewsbury thing ever. It got carried on the Sabrina Boat then rowed along on a Pengwern rowing boat and then escorted through the Quarry by Morris Dancers to be met by the Town Crier. Flipping loved it!
