High on Banks Peninsula

We were blown about today by a fast developing nor'wester as we trekked on the Banks Peninsula ridgeline from Port Levy Saddle.

The tree trunks are mountain totara of which there are only a few remnants. The original forests of Banks Peninsula were logged in the 19th century by the early European settlers.

This is the view down to the sheltered bay of Port Levy, taken from the walkway, with a squadron of lenticular wind clouds in the distance.
