Diary Blip (Monday 18th July 2022)
Having heeded all the warnings I have stayed in today, mostly in the kitchen which felt relatively cool at 25 degrees. The shade temperature in the gazebo was 30.7 and still rising when I took this at 1730 hr, and in the study, where I am now, the weather station, which catches some sun, is at 40 degrees, but my trusty ceiling fan light keeps it feeling quite a lot cooler. Tomorrow is expected to be warmer still, but being in the south west other parts of the country will be affected more.
The birds have been absent all day, apart from some jackdaws calling from the chimney top. I have put out water for any passing cats or hedgehogs. The hanging basket was in a very sunny spot so I have temporarily moved it under the cotinus for shade and stood it in a bowl of water.
I hope to be out with the hose later this evening.

MimiCof - Distant Symphony Ia (recorded 2022, Radio Belgrade)
MimiCof is the alias of the Japanese musician, producer and composer Midori Hirano, now based in Berlin. Under her actual name she is well known for her albums of ambient piano music. This track opens the cover disc The Wire Tapper 59, from the current August edition, of which my copy was listened to this day. It comes from her album Distant Symphony using an EMS Synthi 100, which it also opens.
