Lowering Your Expectations Of Blue Sky Thinking
As predicted yesterday about not going to work unless absolutely necessary, my boss told me that if I wasn't going to come in (I was up to date with my work) then I would have to take today as holiday despite the heat warning. I decided, therefore, to bloody well take him up on the offer. It has been unbelievably hot today so I think I made the right decision. Also, trains during the day have been delayed and cancelled due to the extreme weather.
At lunchtime me and my brother decided to go to a lovely pub in Offham, called the King's Arms, for a cooling drink. By the time we got there the heat was even more intense and I tried to reflect that in today's image. The blue rectangle on the fence looked as if the sky had punched it's way through it. In that moment everything felt real and slightly unreal at the same time, like you can touch, feel and taste the heat rather than just see it. The first extra struck me as funny as the sign was right in front of the tennis courts with no-one in sight, especially not a batsman or bowler. The last extra is just a glimpse of some of the rather grand houses in this sleepy village.
While we were in the pub we chatted away to a lovely post lady who had come in for a sneaky, but very well deserved, cold beverage before finishing her round. It made for an entertaining and very enjoyable aspect to our visit.
