Hollyhocks

Pleased to see the hollyhocks are thriving despite our neglect.
But something strange is going on. Our lavender is fully out but LooseCanon commented that there were no bees on it. Over the last couple of  days we’ve observed that there are very few bees on any of the flowers.  There are a few flies in the house inevitably, but we’ve only seen one wasp and a few bumble bees, where are all the insects? Is it too hot for them? Or too dry and they’ll all be back after the current heatwave? It’s disturbing. I hope they will be back very soon.
