Prince of Wales Park
Singing this afternoon with our ATN choir at a carnival event in the Prince of Wakes Park at the top of Bingley.
This is a lovely wooded park with interesting paths and terraces and the shade was perfect for today.
I thought this queue for the ice cream in the dappled shade typified the heat of the day.
The main event was in the quarry which is an open space in the trees. The group before us were in a marquee but frankly they couldn’t be heard. So when it was our turn, after the Punch and Judy show! we stood in the full sun. Despite this it was enjoyable as usual and we cut a song to reduce the time of exposure a bit.
Afterwards we walked down through the park and into Bingley. We had taken a bus from our village right up to Eldwick where it was just a short walk to the park. Not many on a Sunday so we checked the times of return buses and had a quick drink sitting in the shade outside the Market Sq Tavern (used to be the Ferrands Arms) in the centre of Bingley with time to spare to catch the bus home.
A nice if rather hot way to spend a Sunday afternoon.
