Bees in the lavender.
It’s lunchtime. The upstairs windows are all closed and the curtains and blinds drawn.
We’re eating our dinner with the patio door wide open with a breeze blowing around the topmost branches of the Rowan tree, whose berries have now turned into a beautifully orange colour.
It’s as though everything is waiting for the forecasted heat to arrive. It doesn’t actually feel that bad outside right now.
At times it clouds over and then drifts away.
I determined not to water the garden today as I really don’t want to waste it, when others have so little.
There is still some in the waterbutts, for those that need a bit.
Otherwise as a friend commented when I said things were looking a bit frazzled, “They always recover”.
He is a keen gardener and knows so much about plants. His is a delight. He began to lay it out when he moved a few years ago, as he had carte blanche. Me, I just put things in where I think they will be ok!
His garden is planned out so his herbaceous borders are not random!
There again his climate is a wee bit different living up in Staffordshire on the edge of the moorlands.
Anyway, I digress!
The lavender is now flowering and the bees are loving it. One plant which can withstand heat.
I took the photo earlier.
We’re off to our old church tonight as it the final service of one of the Staff Team, Cath, who has been the Mission Team Leader for over 20 years
She is moving to Cornwall to begin a new work there, which is very near to where we go on holiday each year on the Lizard. So we know it very well.
She will be greatly missed having organised and supported so many different community projects.
We watched her on the Livestream service at 8.30am. (The only one of the three Sunday services which is videoed). It was very moving listening to all the tributes from others sent in and skilfully put together by mishkid, (the daughter of amandoAlentejo) who herself is Disciple Team Leader. Both of whom are blippers!
The second service was 10.30am to be followed by a whole church picnic in a nearby park. Hopefully not too hot.
I shall now take a little stroll up the garden to see if it is ok to sit in the summerhouse.
It was alright this morning as the breeze wafted through it.
Stay cool everyone.
