Split Rock, often called Split Apple Rock, is a round rock split in half sitting on a reef close to shore.
We had to wait until the tide had turned and on its way out so we could walk along the golden sand and to see this rock from its best point. See the extra photo of Sophia & Marcus with the rock in the background. The location is marked on the map.

The photo of Marcus, caught in a pensive moment, was taken on the old Maori Pa above Kaiteriteri Beach, a stop we made on our return journey. Ice creams and flying foxes were also enjoyed before continuing the drive home.
