Tadpole frenzy

Most of the frog spawn in our pond hatched a couple of days ago and already the tadpoles are showing rapid growth. There were, at lunchtime today, hundreds of them swarming around, basking in the bright sunshine on top of the old spawn jelly from which they had hatched. I took the chance of some close-up shots with my camera phone. I am quite pleased with the level of detail achieved. Their little external gills are amazing structures and quite distinct here.
