North Esk

As we were considering where to take Arlo for his afternoon walk, I made.a list of the ones we do go on in Midlothian and I got to 25! As I looked through it I remembered we'd walked along the North Esk from Lasswade to Springfield Mill a couple of times, but there was a walk further upstream from there and I found the details on the Esk Valley Trust. So off we went, it was hot but almost always in trees and of course a river on hand.

We were taken aback how lovely the walk was and the scenery, how has it taken 27 years to find it! We stopped just opposite Hawthornden Castle which we could partly see through the trees before returning, if we continued we'd have reached Rosslyn Castle/Chapel. It's definitely now high on our list of options, with more to explore.
