Castle Howard

Another gloriously sunny day, another amazing stately home.  This time in Yorkshire, at Castle Howard.  We couldn't get tickets to tour the inside of the house, but as we've already visited before, we didn't mind just touring the gardens today.

And what beautiful gardens they are!  Acre upon acre upon acre of stately trees, classical statuary, follies, and gorgeous flower gardens.  We must have walked a good three miles!

On the way back to our lovely hotel, we saw signs for Yorkshire Lavender and went to see what that was all about.  Gorgeous fields of lavender in full bloom!  What a treat!  (See extra).

Extra extra:  A new guest just dropped in to Middlethorpe Hall!  (Guess there was no room in the car park ...)
