Little Tinker

This is Flea. She's getting on a bit now, but she still seems fairly active. For the last few months, though, she's been quite funny about her food and I've been worried that she was finding it hard to chew. Also, she doesn't seem to eat much at a time, so I've been feeding her little and often.

Last week, though, I was woken up by her crying downstairs. Now, from experience, I know what this signifies. She's caught a mouse and brought it into the house. I also know that if I go downstairs she'll leave for me, so I either have to dispose of the body or, worse, if it's not dead, I end up with a mouse running around the house, at least until Flea catches it again.

But, as I say, she's getting on a bit now, and when I heard her crying, I thought maybe there was something wrong with her. So I got up and went downstairs. And there she was, with a mouse.

But I kept my distance and after a while she started to eat it. It was a fair-sized mouse but she managed to crunch up and swallow the whole thing, pretty much in one go. So much for worrying about her teeth and how much she can eat!
