The Staveley Circle

Another walk from the series ‘ Ure walks through time.’ and one we haven’t done before.
It started in the little village of Staveley near Biroughbridge, and went through Staveley Nature Reserve. ( see map)40 hectares of shallow lagoons edged with reed swamp fen and flower-rich grassland with scrub pasture.
There were plenty of geese and a variety of ducks on the lagoons, and a wonderful array of wild flowers. I haven’t seen the creamy white one before. Hope someone can tell me what it is as I can’t look it up on the internet.

The pink one is a common spotted orchid.

We walked along the little River Tutt ( a Viking name) . Then the path took us along a field full of broad beans and a field of peas, before going between two more lagoons, and finally back to the village. 3 1/2 miles.

So peaceful. Just met another couple who confirmed we were going in the right direction as the instructions we had were out of date. 3 bridges were crossed and not 2 as per leaflet.
We will definitely be back.

Another very enjoyable day. It started out dull after an over night shower, but when we got back to the caravan it was again hot and sunny. Nice to have a cool breeze, so sat on the veranda in the shade and finished my book.
