From Calton Hill

Second Duke of Edinburgh Skills session with J. We went up to the private gardens on Calton Hill as they have a key. A more practical exercise, taking pictures of the views, plants and other objects and a few portraits, building on last week's introduction and introducing a few new concepts, including dynamic range, histograms, depth of field and a few pointers on composition. I think it went well and hopefully he can put some of the things into practise before our next session.
