Rain, rain, rain - a very dreich day
My throat was so much better this morning, just a tiny bit of pain when I swallowed, which has diminished during the day - isn’t the body amazing!
After breakfast we got rugged up in our waterproof jackets, borrowed umbrellas from the hotel and set off for the Hundertwasser. We walked up to the afforestation roof first, then made our way down to the café for a coffee before moving on to the gallery. We were told we could take photos but not post them on social media so as not to spoil the experience for people yet to visit. I have, however, included one poster from the gallery. We did find out that the ceramics for the pillars (and presumably the mosaic tiles) were made in the Tettau factory in Bavaria, Germany where all the ceramics in Hundertwasser’s buildings throughout the world have been made.
After we’d finished in the gallery, we ventured into the city centre for a light lunch and then back to the Hundertwasser to watch a short movie about Hundertwasser’s life before he moved to New Zealand. Then, of course, we exited through the gift shop having managed to resist the urge to buy things we really don’t need, beautiful though they are.
The main blip and extras show more images of the Hundertwasser Art Centre and the café/restaurant where we enjoyed our 15th wedding anniversary dinner tonight.
