There is only one of their brood left it seems but he/she seems very strong and alert. He warned his parents that a posse of tufted ducks were headed their way then tucked in behind his parents till the ducks had passed.

Knee doctor this morning, back on the drugs, but no intervention till October, phew. I should be able to continue to walk in the mountains.
