Phew

Long day. Once again a more manageable temperature and just as well, as I was doing both ceremonies today. All went smoothly and nice to catch up with staff at both the receptions, although I was struggling a bit with backache and didn’t take the pills quickly enough so was in quite a lot of pain in the morning session. Still, the general joy around the room kept me going and I’d changed the speech to give a bit of variety to those of us who are at every ceremony! As we left the hall after the afternoon ceremony we could smell rain…there had been quite the downpour whilst we were inside but luckily had cleared by the time the hall emptied and everyone was out taking photos, in fact the sun came out so it was perfect.
Had planned some scenes to blip but forgot in the heat of it so you get the after dinner scene along half the table in the Playfair library this evening. Warm and interesting conversations with guests and lots of very lovely comments about me leaving…only a week to go!
