Not a fun day

We worked hard last night trying to dry up after the flood. Chris made the electrics safe last night and this morning Kevin arrived with the replacement washer. He suggested we turn off the water when we go away in future but easier said than done as the isolator is so old it won’t turn. (The house was built in 1939.)

The insurance says it will pay up when we have the bills for the work. Unfortunately we need an expert to check to see if there is any asbestos in the ceiling so that might take a while. We have 2 dehumidifiers working to dry things out. The carpet is sodden as is a chest of drawers and the contents. The paintwork on the door is peeling off. It’s all worse than we first thought.

Dentist this morning. He’s going to try to do a crown. The big work preparing and putting on the temporary crown is the day before we go to Italy and then he is on holiday so I have to get the permanent one put on the day we get the boat to Amsterdam so I hope all that works out.
