I have almost completed the search for the forty decorative plaques in the flood defence wall, built after the devastating floods in Carlisle in 2005.

This one has been quite elusive, as it was on its own, a note said it was not accessible by public footpath, and the map I have was not very helpful in trying to locate it. Eventually we figured the area in which it must be and were lucky in finding it in a private car park belonging to a development of town houses. This area is known as the Caldew Maltings, as it was the site Carlisle's Brewery. It is between the River Caldew and a stream running into the river. It was an area very badly hit by the floods, with people having to be rescued from upstairs' windows.

The plaque itself is one of a group that tell stories about water and rivers in poems. The poems were written by local groups of young people, with the help of poet Jacob Polley. The poems were then carved by artist Pip Hall in her letter carving studio in Cumbria.

Thank you for the wonderful response to my Goldfinch. This was a picture I have been trying to get for a long time and was so pleased when I at last succeeded. I was delighted that so many people liked it.
