One of a nesting pair that keep flying over, looking for fish.....

Today started off rather smokey for some reason so this atmospheric treatment seems fitting. Windows are all closed. The wind direction has changed which provides us some temporary relief but the the fires are still burning.

As well as looking into the beginnings of the cosmos NASA publishes a world firemap (FIRMS). This displays data from orbiting polar satellites fitted with infrared sensors which are so sensitive they can pickup the results of the BBQ exercise on Salisbury Plain.
