The Pyrenees

The mountains. It is beautiful. We have camped for a couple nights in a small village called Biert, it is a municipal camp site and with a number of caravans waiting for the summer visitors. We are now sat in a wifi cafe in Marret for lunch, an opportunity to people watch. The day is warm but the clouds are gathering and rain is forecast later on. The drive south was interesting and beautiful, the blossom of cherry trees, lilac, laburnum, magnolia was stunning. We have met a couple who used to live near us, they moved here 16 months ago and are well on the way to completing their new home. In a short time we can see they have become well established, the people around the area are friendly and welcoming.

The scenery is wonderful, the snow capped mountains, tree covered hills and the blossom is up there, apparently in the 50's the French planted the surrounding hills sides with trees including apple - and now they hold an annual apple fest with apple pressing and apple related foods.
