Chinese settlement , Arrowetown

This morning we went out quite early to avoid the rain and went to Arrowetown which is a historic former Gold mining town. 
We went for a walk in a different direction than we have been previously and came to the remnants of a Chinese settlement from the 1870's.
In 1865 Otago's first goldrush was over and the population was greatly reduced. The Provincial council invited Chinese Miners to come from the Australian goldfields to keep the area from decline. 
We had a walk and a coffee before tha rain came and we came back to warm up!
