Turkish Children's Day

On national holidays, this translucent banner of Kamal Attaturk is hung from the upper windows, softening the light in the library. Attaturk chose honouring children as his way of commemorating the founding of the Turkish Republic once the Ottoman Empire fell. Years later, he expanded the concept to honour children everywhere. He himself adopted thirteen children; two boys and eleven girls. The more I read about him, the more I come to appreciate why he is so venerated here.

Anyway, I liked this image of Attaturk amongst the wisteria.
