Camera Shy

Cool Walk.

Needed to find a cool walk for Ginny and me today.  It was forecast to be very hot.  We 're lucky,  for a built up area in the SE,  to have a good variety of choices to make,  sometimes the weather dictating which would be best.   Decided on Poors Lane but nearly had to change as a road closure was just being set up ahead due to a cyclist being hit by a lorry which drove off I later found out.  Took a diversionary route -  along with everyone else!  - and was pleased even after queuing to stay with my choice as I was rewarded with a cool location.  iPhone day today as I couldn't be bothered with a camera.  This track is like a Hollow Way and has high banks either side.  No hot pavements for a dog's feet to be uncomfortable,  no breeze either but it is so densely wooded that the sun does not get through.  She enjoyed my choice I think and was cool  enough to be lively,  exploring along the tops of the banks - unfortunately needing to be kept on a lead as I think her tracking instinct could take her off to the next County.
Had a great time at the Yacht Club Summer Ball last evening with a Hawaiian theme and Elvis tribute singer!  Takes some guts to do that.  Pint-sized guy in a blue sequinned Elvis style jumpsuit with sequins - aargh, sounds ghastly but despite sniggers (unkind!) he won through.  It was mostly all the "old guard" in attendance which meant that,  along with the tribute singer,  we looked ridiculous,  forgot our inhibitions and went for it.  Everyone up on the dance floor as he,  and us,   sang our way through the Elvis songbook.  Exhausted at the end and probably the reason I had a late start for today's dog walk.
Last time seventy or so of us gathered for a supper at the YC most tested positive for Covid in the next few days.  There were a couple of cancellations due to Covid so let's hope we're not all in for it again.
