Silver Washed Fritillary
B and I walked in Holt Country Park this morning looking for butterflies. We didn't find many. The sun didn't put in the promised appearance, and it was quite overcast, so maybe that was why. Of course, once we left the park and were walking back into town the sun came out!
I'm not quite sure why this attractive butterfly is named as 'silver-washed' but nevertheless it is lovely to see. The extra is of a white admiral, although it's a shame I couldn't get a photo that showed off his wing patterns more.
I noticed when I was processing my photos that many of the butterflies seemed to have sustained damage to their wings.
