It was car service day, so having dropped the car at the garage, I dug the folding bike out of the boot and headed to the local shopping centre for a mooch around before heading to one of my favourite local nature reserves, Shepherd Meadows named for the wildlife artist and conservationist David Shepherd.
The bees were out in force on the wildflowers, as well as cardinal beetles doing "what comes naturally" (extra).
The car was ready before I expected, despite an internet malfunction which prevented them downloading a software patch for a while (when did cars get so complicated?). So I cycled back to collect it, and still had an afternoon of being lazy and watching tennis!
