Gotcha!
This has been on my list of ‘things I would like to photograph’ since I heard of it from a friend who had one in her garden - but I had never seen one. Until today!! Not only spotted it darting around and hovering on my Buddleia, but managed to get a few reasonable shots of it too.
It is a Hummingbird Hawk-moth. The main pic shows the lovely golden colour of the rapidly beating wings and also it’s ridiculously long feeding tube poised ready to enter a flower. The extras show the tube coiling back and also the view looking down on it as it briefly settled on the plant.
Made my day !
