WITH A SONG IN MY HEART

Spooky Men!

This afternoon we went to The Victoria Hall in Settle to see The Spooky Men’s Chorale. The tickets were a birthday present from Frank (last month). We’ve seen them twice before and they were as brilliant as ever.
Mostly hilarious, at times poignant, always fabulous harmonies.
If you haven’t seen them you must go!

Today is the first day I haven’t felt tired all day. Is it because the sun was shining? I don’t know, but I was up early and felt more alert.
When we got back from the concert I enjoyed some time in the garden pottering, tidying, watering.

The wasp sting I got last Friday is still driving me crazy with the itching and is red and a bit swollen. I am trying hard not to scratch.

So, Boris has resigned, no apology for his lies though. Mind you I’m sick of hearing his apologies which have never been genuine anyway. He’s only sorry he was found out.
I had to stop myself from commenting on a conversation between some women in a charity shop today. They were saying they liked him, felt sorry for him, and thought he’s done a good job of being PM. I gritted my teeth and walked out!

Sunshine at Last!

The sunshine made me smile today
and put me in a good mood
it’s well known that the weather
can affect one’s attitude.

I felt I had more energy
and joy in the mundane chores
I’ve weeded the path and borders
hunkered down on all fours.

I picked a bunch of sweet peas
and I’ve dead-headed the roses
and the back yard has been swept
while the dog, obliviously dozes.

The garden has been slow this year
but it’s fairly coming on now
that rain must have done some good
for the fruit bushes are well endowed.

I hope this really is summer
we’ve waited far too long
to spend time out in the garden
working and listening to birdsong.

Goodnight :-)X
