Mount Isa Mines

This city has been a silver, lead and zinc mine as it’s reason for being for many years, The mines create most of the employment and has three huge smoke stacks of chimneys to put some of the hazardous pollutants up away from the town. It wouldn’t be called a pretty place.

Our friends G & V were on a trip around Australia. After their time in Dubbo when we were great friends, their next stop was Mt Isa where they both got good jobs and stopped travelling. So much for their trip. They did stay living in their caravan for about 18 years but now have a house and lovely garden.

Tonight we went out to a local club for dinner then V drove us up to the lookout and into the mining area where I took this photo of molten copper being poured into moulds before being shipped off to Townsville and England (I think). The rest of the day was spent doing jobs like cleaning, washing, shopping etc.

Many thanks for comments and stars etc, I am finding it difficult to reply but appreciate your visits.

Happy birthday to our dear granddaughter Maddy who is now 13.
