Warner Blade Sign
The Warner Theater was built in 1930 & became not only the fanciest theater in Milwaukee but at the time, one of the most beautiful and ornate in the nation. Warner Brothers spent $2.5 million dollars building this 2400 seat theater, and the old photos of its' interior are amazing. The building was purchased by the Milwaukee Symphony Orchestra who renovated it for a cost of over $19 million dollars. Prior to the massive renovations both the blade sign and the marquees were removed, restored & later rehung. The sign is 50 feet high and even though the MSO changed the name of the building, the Warner sign was put back up as a nod to the long history of the Art Deco Movie Palace. It's hard to miss, & I took this on my way home from lunch with my sister-in-law....I avoided the expressway which was backed up for miles. :)
