Sunflower bud

I haven’t grown sunflowers for many years, in fact not since we moved to our current house 22 years ago. 
Seeing the lovely sunflowers my daughter grew from seed last year I decided to give it a try again this summer. They are doing reasonably well, have had to put up with wind, rain, slugs and snails but I am hopeful we will have some lovely sunflowers soon.
