Badlands Day 2

Friday June 17
A spectacular day today. We began with a fairly short trail,Cliff Shelf, which follows boardwalks and climbs stairs through a juniperforest perched along the Badlands Wall, offering some fine views. The next trail, Notch trail, was a bit more energetic (see thumbnail photo!). After meandering through a canyon, this trail climbed a log ladder and followed a ledge to "the Notch" for a great view of the White River Valley. Climbing the log ladder was pushing my comfort level a bit, but I made it, up and down! We then did a couple of short trails, called Door and Window trails. We then completed the scenic drive stopping at various spectacular viewpoints. We took a different route out of the park which afforded us some great wildlife sightings, which I have put in an extra - American bison, Pronghorn and a few of the many, many cute prairie dogs.
