Rocky Mountain Moments

By pipersmom

Fourth of July

It was too late and I was too tired to get this posted last night, so it's being backblipped today.

We had lots of fun with Darrin's family, as always.  There was a big water fight, lots of bubbles, lots of food, a beautiful double rainbow and fireworks.  And lots of silliness, especially by Darrin who had had several a few beers and decided to climb a tree (middle image).  I took Piper and her dad home before the fireworks.  Neither of them do very well with loud booms.  In the first image, Thor wasn't taking any chances so he decided to hide before it even got dark.  Then he slept through the fireworks later.  In the last image, Fang needed his mom's comfort because he didn't like the fireworks at all.

Becky and Darrin made a trip to Wyoming to buy fireworks and "the boys" shot them off in the street in front of the house.  They were all fountains because anything that leaves the ground is illegal.  That didn't stop several of the neighbors who had rockets that shot up and exploded like the professional ones, and were extremely loud.  So, we got to watch theirs too and not worry about a $1000 fine. ;-)

When I got home PD had the TV turned up loud to drown out the booms, which were going on late into the night.  When the TV was turned off and we headed for bed, poor Piper didn't know what to do with herself.  She doesn't sleep in our room although our door is open, except last night when she spent a good part of the night on our bed.  It never bothered her until the past few years.  I'm grateful that we could calm her down with cuddles.

Thanks to everyone for your visits and stars and hearts.  All are appreciated!
