Sunset...

...was quite spectacular, though the day started in an otherwise memorable way.

I had a sleep-in, which I allowed myself now that the cattle are all out. A neighbour rang the doorbell while I was having breakfast, telling the fence is down. I went to have a look, and there was a 10 metre long gap in it, but all the heifers were neatly in. I repaired it and went to see the calves in the small paddock. Except that they were not there to be seen! I took a while to realize that they were the ones that had broken the fence, joining the bigger ones. Can't help it, but they would have had an easier life on their own little pasture. I suppose they will adapt though, and I have only one herd to look after now.

The rest of the day went by quickly. I fertilized the silage fields that will become pastures later in the summer and serviced the spreader, and helped dad to move the firewood bags and cages under a roof before the weather changes.
