River of Flowers

Tuesday: Buddleia Flowers

Woke up to steady refreshing rain - scuppered MrD’s plans for a motorbike ride, but so welcome for the garden.
Picked from the garden: raspberries, lettuce leaves, baby spinach, chives (marketed as shallots!) and Broccoli “Hungry Gap”.
Soaked Forage Peas which will be grown as pea shoots for salad

Filled a large square tub with “weeds” then layers of grass mowings, coarse homemade compost and garden soil. Gave it a good soaking then sowed chickpeas around the edges, sprinkled radish seeds and Rainbow Carrot seeds over the whole top, sprinkled coarse vermiculite over everything and put a plastic vegetable tray to keep everything safe! Have had no success recently with carrots so this is an experiment!
Transplanted mixed lettuce plants - we’re eating a lot of homegrown salad this year.
The buddleia is in flower but haven’t seen any butterflies yet, there were bees on the yellow giant scabious in spite of changeable weather.
Stay safe & healthy & happy everyone :-)
Nos da pawb / goodnight all xx
