Beautiful babies

Not a bad day today - dry, windless and the occasional sunshine. I've been out in the garden for a lot of the day, playing with plants and turning the next compost bin - I pulled the bin off, relocated it, and forked all the semi-rotted compost back in. Don't have the energy that I used to have!

My Blip today is a tray of the succulent Aeonium hierrense, a large rosetted plant from El Hierro, the smallest and most south-westerly of the Canary Islands. They germinated like weeds and this what I pricked out a couple of months ago. What will I do with them? No idea - give them away I suppose. They won't be winter hardy here, or I don't think so. They look lovely even at this size.

My extra today is a surprise addition to my fern border. I saw this plant coming up a month or two ago and couldn't think what it was, though it looked familiar. When our daughter was here not long ago she asked why I was growing a broad bean in the fern garden! A second one has now come up - I can't imagine where they've come from!
