Mail left UK went via NZ before arriving Australia

My friend Ros on the East Coast of the UK sent me a thank card for her birthday present... It left the UK on the 22nd May and arrived in my letterbox today 4th July... when I looked at the envelope I saw it had taken ages to arrive then I noticed it had sticky tape over the top of the envelope and thought this is strange... So I used a knife to open it and this piece of paper fell out of the card... Strange it went via NZ which I don't know why... It was just a card, so I don't know what they expected to find inside...
