Spot newt and wonder at half formed chickpea

Needless to say the heat was nigh on impossible at 37c at 1800 hours. Took refuge in poor man’s AC - cold white wine - a Vernaccia from St Jimmy (San Gimignano). I did get up at 5am to do important things in the garden.

Hopefully the chickpeas will develop into full blown peasant’s bread and also dry well. Supposed to be v drought hardy.
