Always On My Mind

Elvis is in the building! A great night last night, playing at a fundraiser for the charity Mind. An organisation close to our hearts as our drummer benefitted greatly from help they have given him in the past. We played two great sets with some blistering soloing from our pair of guitarists, not to mention their crowd pleasing antics. I looked down off the stage at one point and saw them both lying on the floor, trading licks whilst the lead singer straddled them - God knows what that was all about!
As mentioned yesterday, we had Elvis as our support act - not many groups could say that! He was excellent as regards the songs, with the look, voice and actions being spot on. Made me laugh between songs though when he spoke to the crowd in his normal broad Barrovian accent - just didn’t seem quite right to hear that voice coming from someone looking like that!
Superb British Grand Prix this afternoon - drama and excitement from start to finish. Very glad to see Zhou looking ok after that horrendous first corner accident - a testament to the strength and safety features of a modern F1 car. The display of Latin temperament within the Ferrari team was almost as entertaining as the racing, but I think the right man won in the end. Good to see Lewis on the podium as well - maybe Mercedes are finally getting to grips with the car’s problems.
We’ve got four weeks now until our next gig. Hopefully we can get together in that time to have a crack at some new songs - and perhaps brush up on some old ones!
