Kirsova 1 Playground

I walk past two Kirsova playgrounds most days.

They are the legacy of Helene Kirsova, a Danish prima ballerina and choreographer who toured here with the Ballets Russes de Monte Carlo in the 1930s, married the Danish vice-consul in Sydney and stayed. All three playgrounds are in what were then deprived inner-city areas.

In today’s wild weather, playground #1 came closest to derelict.
