Alireza and daughters
Today we were on political duty, standing on the square offering free coffee and/or ice-cream to passing folk. We could also offer various pamphlets and information if required.
The town square was mostly a pleasant place to be this afternoon. It was warm, but not too hot. At first it was misty and very quiet (extra) but a couple of young people were playing piano and singing (a summer job I think), and people were sitting around on the boxes placed there for the summer, surrounded by flowers and small trees in other boxes. At the end of summer the boxes go away and the trees all get planted elsewhere in the municipality.
A lot of the time we were "preaching to the converted" as Left Party members came by and chatted but the coffee and ice-cream lured a few others into our orbit. It's interesting to talk to people and listen to what they have to say.
As we packed up and left, Alireza (pictured) was having a deep conversation with a young tattooed guy who definitely wasn't of the Left persuasion. I suspect he still won't be voting for us but you never know where such conversations lead.
Alireza was there with his wife, Erika, and their three daughters. When I took the picture mum and eldest daughters were off to the shops, while the younger two were entertaining us while plaguing their long-suffering dad!
