Hat Fair Saturday - headgear
Thinking about what many of you asked yesterday (why it's called 'Hat Fair' when hats being worn don't play a specific role in the event) I decided today to concentrate on headgear. It's true that a lot of first time visitors wonder the same and some of them do come dressed up in home-grown hats.
The performers, of course, use a variety of astonishing, headgear in their acts.
The main is one of a pair of performers called Screaming MeMe in their show Treeo. They're both on stilts and are covered head top to the ground in fake roses and foliage. Lurching about outside M&S, they particularly seemed to interact with kids, who absolutely adored them.
The first Extra is Madam Matronic (in green) and The Washed Up Mermaid (in silver). Both living statues, they were performing possibly together. Sadly I didn't see what they did, but they kindly agreed to stop beforehand for a shot.
The last two Extras, in mono, are what a couple of presumably out-of-towners reckoned was suitable headgear for a Hat Fair.
Didn't see a lot of the action today. K was unwell and one of my camera bodies is on the blink. And I can read the runes, I came home early.
Hope your Saturday's is being/has been a good one xx
PS: for anyone who doesn't know, it's called 'Hat Fair' because you don't buy a ticket to watch performances, your just put money in the 'hat' at the end if you liked it (and perhaps not if you didn't..)
PPS: I've just realised it's the 300th SillySaturday so I'm tagging this in memory of lovely Admirer. Thanks to DavidC for hosting ;))
