Guide

This marker stone could fairly be described as being quite phallic!
It greets one as one reaches the summit between two hills on North Uist. It sits on one end of a shieling made of two compartments and would mark the transition from the arable W coast of North Uist and the pasture of the E coast.
The day started with a quick visit to the newly opened, interesting  North Uist Environmental Centre before heading off to the further reaches of the island.
A nasty grey cloud seemed to be following us around as we walked up into the wilderness here, getting quite wet whilst the W coast was bathed in sunshine.
A pint on the way home helped us dry out before our visit to the opening of an Art exhibition in the local arts centre where plenty of artistic chat was had - by Tricia.
