Shopping
This walking/hiking and camping malarkey is expensive!
I went to Ely this afternoon and got, amongst other things, a bright yellow thin windproof jacket meant for running and cycling.
I’m trying to get back to my pre-pandemic size, so I don’t want to spend too much on clothing that won’t necessarily fit this time next year. That means not buying the perfect-but-expensive puffy coat from America, but a reduced-price green one in a shop that’s been closing down forever.
The most important factor about the puffy coat was that it was filled with a synthetic material, ideally recycled, rather than down: down is useless in wet weather, but, more importantly, obtaining the down involves horrific treatment of geese and other birds.
