Anatomy

Woke up later than usual, and A woke earlier, so it was nice to be brought tea in bed for a change!
Straight into the interviews all morning. The external panel member used to be here and, it turned out, was on my own interview panel! How strange to have something from then pop back up now as I’m about to leave.
Fairly straightforward decision in the end although not what we’d predicted yesterday. Back to the office for a couple more meetings then took a swift walk down to the cafe at the national gallery to meet TL. Nice to catch up with her (and later B too) and have a good chat about various mutual interests and options and a general catch up. In the time left before the exhibition launch at the museum I had a little browse in M&S.
Met A&N at the museum and we enjoyed some drinks and canapés before exploring the new exhibition about the history of anatomy. Really good exhibition….starting with a number of Leonardo’s anatomical sketches, then having a lot of info about the traffic in bodies to supply the growth in medical education….including a lot about Burke and Hare (and Burke's skeleton - yuk!) and all sorts from the university collection. Fascinating to see the names and addresses on a very old petition to the Edinburgh Council that had 3 people from my street listed....we went home and gazed at their houses, thinking what they must have been like 200 years ago.
Couldn’t take photos of any exhibits so this was the crowd at the initial reception hearing from the curator. We all found it really interesting. Bumped into a few people I knew and had some nice chats then home for a salad supper and talking about shifting away from meat more in our everyday meals.
