Common Grackle
I spent some time birdwatching this afternoon. I found this bird at the top of a tall pine tree, but it was too far away to positively identify. Once again, my camera’s digital zoom feature came in handy. I believe this is a Common Grackle (Quiscalus quiscula). These birds usually have very iridescent feathers, but this one did not show any sheen at all. It is probably either a female, or a juvenile.
