Transport: Icelandic style

It goes like this: a giant of a man called Bjarni Bjarnasson drives you up what seems at times like a vertical ascent over snow, ice and giant boulders onto the largest ice cap in Europe - Vatnajokull. You are dressed in a rather fetching (!) snow suit, green wellies and a helmet. Bjarni shows you to your skidoo, rattles through instructions (some of which involve 'don't do this or you'll break your leg') and then says follow me and shoots off across the glacier - initially at a relatively gentle 20kmph but slowly climbing to 60 or 70...Terrified at first you eventually get the hang of it and are leaning into turns and the incline of the mountain like a pro (or so you like to tell yourself...)
