Bee Rescue

 I went outside to right a new lavender pot that the wind had blown over and, in the bucket of water kept next to it for topping up the pond, found this bumblebee floating, seemingly lifeless.
When lifted out it began to move so I encouraged it onto the plant - it was reluctant to let go of my nice warm,. dry finger but found a suitable substitute on a dead flower head (main picture).

Clearly this would not offer any sustenance and I bent the dead stem towards a fresh flower stalk, to which it transferred oh, so slowly and clung on for dear life (extra photo). Eventually it climbed to the inflorescence, where I left it to its own devices.

I checked a few hours later to find that it had gone, I trust flown away sated with lavender nectar.
