Lymington
It’s sad to leave as we’ve had a lovely week. We still had a little bit of time on our 48 hour bus passes and that meant we could get to the ferry port at Yarmouth in time for the 11am ferry. Previously, we have just walked up to every ferry we’ve taken to and from the island over the last couple of years and so were surprised to learn that this was a restricted sailing (something to do with the cargo) and they did not think they had any further passenger space. So we joined a standby queue in the hope that, when everybody was counted, there were enough spaces to allow us and the five or six people in front of us to board. We were lucky and we back on the mainland 40 minutes later.
The journey home was uneventful. There was a longer wait that we had expected at Brockenhurst but we were home by about 3pm. It was quite a peaceful way to end the holiday.
