Grow Zone
This new, and somewhat grandly named, ‘grow zone’ is in fact a strip of grass down the middle of a short piece of dual carriageway beside our local cricket club’s ground! It’s the only proper road we have to cross on our two-mile walking route across the Green at Woodford to visit Sir Winston Churchill’s statue and back.
It’s been a really busy day today. I finished printing the three 38-page A4 family history booklets for my friend, and tomorrow I’ll get them spiral bound so they will lie flat and be easy to read. Once I’d done that, and a parcel we were waiting for had come, we went out for our walk, enabling me to get today’s blip sorted.
On our return, after the obligatory cup of tea, I began the grand clear out of the sports cupboard in our garage to remove all evidence of pesky mouse activity. Wearing a mask, I started by putting all the punctured bags of laundry starch into a black plastic bag and then sweeping up the thick piles of starch from the shelf (including many mouse droppings) and tipping them into the black bag. All the spare bathroom tiles that were also stored at the other end of the shelf were swept clean, and at that point I had to stop because I was so tired. It will be a long job to empty the cupboard completely and give it a deep clean, but I’ve made a start and tackled the worst place first.
I have put all the remaining untouched packets of laundry starch, bicarbonate of soda and soda crystals into an airtight plastic storage box to prevent any future verminous nibbling attempts. Hopefully it will turn the sports cupboard from a Grow Zone to a No-Go Zone for mice in future!
